CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY RECEIVES $16,325 JOINT DONATION FROM SKYLINE LIVING AND RIVER ROCK LAUNDRY

GUELPH, ON – Cancer touches almost every family, and two local companies have joined forces to help make a difference to those impacted in our communities. On January 13, 2022, Skyline Living and River Rock Laundry made a joint contribution of $16,325.00 to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of the breast cancer cause.

The unique Wash ‘n’ Dry for the Cure campaign targeted 17 select Skyline Living apartment buildings in southwestern Ontario in 2021 including Guelph, Cambridge, Fergus, Elmira, Brantford, St. Thomas, Sarnia and Windsor where River Rock Laundry provides commercial, rental laundry equipment and service. Skyline Living agreed to match all monies raised, doubling the contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“We were delighted when River Rock Laundry asked us to team up with them on this important fundraising initiative,” said BJ Santavy, Vice President, Skyline Living. “One-in-eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. It is a very personal disease, with each of us knowing someone or some family that has confronted this devastating situation. We at Skyline Living were honoured to be able to lend our support to aid in research that will one day end this terrible disease.”

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Canadian women outside of skin cancers and it is the second-leading cause of death. According to statistics from the Canadian Cancer Society, almost 28,000 Canadian women are diagnosed with some form of breast cancer each year. The five-year survival rate is 89 per cent, but each year about 5,400 women succumb to the disease. While rare, each year about one per cent of breast cancer diagnoses are made in male patients.

Our partnership is a natural fit, and we're thrilled with the way their building residents embraced the campaign.”
